I think he should go ahead and lock up the surgery. I’m not going to repeat the problems with the scenery, but we know that our 2nd basemen has walked as a mercenary for the hardware, and the 1st basemen was a field in the scary. Thus, this week will be very dignified. If he does the surgery today and secure 6 months to rehab like it projects in the article, then he will be available to start playing again at the end of March and might historically start the season with the Astros.
That being said...
